Franchesca
“If there’s anything I’m good at, it’s yappin’!”
We could have sat and “yapped” another several hours if I hadn’t run out of memory space in my SD card.
Memory…
How I wish I could permanently burn every mind-bending, thought provoking discussion we had during our session, so as to never forget the chills I received from listening to such an inspiring perspective…
Francesca (or Chesca, as I’ve known her) is nothing short of a rarity in uniqueness and charm. It’s been roughly fifteen years since our last moment together, but time could never suppress the joy and energy that exudes from her, like it was embedded into her DNA.
“Although moved away- I don’t know if it’s the water, the ocean; I’m reminded that living in such a fast paced environment, she [Corpus] reminds me to slow down. She has a special place in my heart for that.”
As I listened to Chesca’s remarkable view of life, I couldn’t help but feel immensely honored to be capturing such an animated wonder.
Between reminiscing on our childhood, filling in the details of the time in between, we talked of the important role creativity and expression has in mental health and wellness, the desire to encourage and embrace all artistry, not suppress and discourage. We shared the same idea that your art, in any level of skill, whether it’s singing, painting, writing, music, will move *someone* out there. Stories shared in the masses when they would have otherwise never been told.
In our personal experiences with struggling to find our voice in art as adolescents, the importance to help others find theirs is a shared desire for us both- “you’re not alone…”
As our exhilarating session came to an unfortunate end, I had one more question for my dear friend: “If you could travel to any decade in time, what would it be?”
Her response was something that has been burned into my mind forever:
“I wouldn’t travel to a decade. Instead, I’d like to exist in the space where the first breath was taken, the first moment in time, the first instant life began. I want to feel that second when something begins…”
Wouldn’t that be something…?
